From Kalasatama to Vuosaari – Via Kivisaari

Discover the charm of Helsinki’s Eastern archipelago with the only water route that takes you from mainland to mainland, providing an exceptional glimpse into everyday life in the archipelago. Once you arrive, immerse yourself in the natural beauty and enchanting experiences offered by East Helsinki.

The service operated between Kalasatama and Vuosaari from the beginning of May until the end of August. In September, the service operated from Friday to Sunday.

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Helsinki’s eastern archipelago

The eastern archipelago route runs from Kalasatama to Herttoniemi, Laajasalo, Vartiosaari, Kivisaari, Satamasaari, Iiluoto, Leikosaari, and ends in Vuosaari. The total duration of the cruise is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Kivisaari, which opened to the public on Midsummer 2024, is an experience worth having. Stop by the island for a meal, host a party, or take a break from everyday life and stay overnight. Accommodation is available in both the Eliel Saarinen-designed Merilinna and other buildings on the island.

During the trip, you’ll see parts of the archipelago inaccessible to other water traffic or sightseeing boats. Highlights include a picturesque passage through the Degerö Canal and the stunning islets and skerries of Kallahdenselkä.

In Vuosaari, you will find the Aurinkolahti beach, often referred to as the “Finnish Riviera,” Kallahdenniemi, which emerged during the last Ice Age, and the Uutela Nature Park.

Spend a Day on the Boat or Return by Metro

Enjoy a pleasant day on the boat or take a one-way cruise from Kalasatama to Vuosaari, and then return by metro!

Changes to the Herttoniemi Stop

Please note! The Herttoniemi stop is now located at the end of Reginankuja, in front of the Bella Marina restaurant. We ask customers to stand clearly on the dock so the ship’s crew can see you.

Special Transport

Please note! We do not transport items longer than 2 meters on the vessel. Construction materials are not transported unless specifically arranged. The eastern archipelago route is mainly operated by the ship m/s Okeanos.

M/s Okeanos runs on Neste MY renewable diesel made from 100% waste and residues. On avarage, vessel transport has 90% lower greenhouse emissions than fossil diesel. Neste MY renewable fuels burn cleanly and put less strain on the engine and the climate.
